Bybit’s Yoyee Wang: Trust, Regulation, and Infrastructure Key to Institutional Crypto Adoption

DUBAI, UAE, July 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- As digital assets transition from niche innovation to mainstream financial instruments, the critical factor driving institutional adoption is no longer technological feasibility—but trust in the underlying infrastructure. This was the central thesis presented by Yoyee Wang, Global Head of TradFi and Real-World Assets (RWA) at Bybit, during a panel discussion at LEAP East 2026.

Speaking on the panel titled "Trust Is the New Infrastructure: Security, Identity, Fraud & Regulation at Scale," Wang outlined how regulation, client-centric design, and real-world utility are reshaping institutional engagement with digital assets.

"Institutional adoption has never been about chasing the highest returns," Wang stated. "For professional investors, trust begins with capital preservation, regulatory certainty, and infrastructure they can rely on. When those foundations are in place, innovation becomes far easier to embrace."

Wang highlighted that regulation has evolved from a mere compliance burden into a strategic advantage. Clear regulatory frameworks in major jurisdictions are giving existing institutions the confidence to deepen their digital asset exposure while encouraging newcomers to explore the space.

"Trust is built over time," she explained. "Institutions don't suddenly move significant capital into a new asset class. They start with measured allocations, validate the infrastructure, and gradually increase exposure as confidence grows. That's how every financial market matures."

The discussion also addressed the rise of tokenised real-world assets (RWAs) and the convergence of traditional finance (TradFi) with blockchain ecosystems. Wang stressed that the industry’s role isn’t to push adoption but to ensure reliable infrastructure is ready when institutions decide to participate.

"At Bybit, we see ourselves as infrastructure builders," Wang said. "Our responsibility is to understand what institutional clients are trying to achieve and provide solutions that address those needs while maintaining the standards of security, governance, and operational resilience they expect."

She noted that many traditional financial institutions prioritize capital protection and operational efficiency over yield—a shift influencing how digital asset platforms design institutional products. As an example, Wang cited tokenised money market funds, which allow holders of on-chain assets like stablecoins to access familiar yield-generating instruments without sacrificing flexibility.

"Technology should expand choice, not replace it," Wang emphasized. "Tokenisation gives institutions additional options to manage liquidity and capital more efficiently. Whether they adopt those solutions is ultimately their decision. Our role is to provide secure, trusted access when they're ready."

Concluding, Wang asserted that long-term success in institutional digital asset adoption belongs to platforms that combine regulatory excellence, trusted infrastructure, and deep collaboration with financial institutions—understanding client objectives first, technology second.
