DigiByte to Launch DigiDollar Stablecoin in July

DigiDollar

DigiByte has announced the upcoming release of its new stablecoin, DigiDollar, scheduled for July. The announcement was shared via an official tweet from the DGB team.

Launched in January 2014 as a Bitcoin fork, DigiByte is an open-source blockchain platform designed to enhance security, scalability, and transaction speed compared to Bitcoin’s original framework. It employs five distinct mining algorithms to strengthen network resilience against attacks.

The DigiByte architecture consists of three layers: a core protocol layer with nodes that validate and relay transactions, a public ledger for transparent record-keeping, and a smart contract layer branded as the “App Store” for decentralized applications (DApps). This structure supports the creation and deployment of digital assets and smart contracts through DigiAssets, all powered by the native DGB token.

DGB serves as the primary utility token on the network, used to pay transaction fees that incentivize miners to secure the blockchain. Governance remains community-driven and voluntary, aligning with DigiByte’s ethos of decentralization and open access.

The introduction of DigiDollar marks a significant expansion of DigiByte’s ecosystem, potentially offering users a stable, blockchain-based dollar-pegged asset built on its secure and multi-algorithm infrastructure.
